Ankra Cloud documentation
Servers, storage, networks and managed services on Ankra Cloud, with an IPv6-first network, hourly billing and a complete API.
Ankra Cloud is a public cloud built from the ground up by Ankra: KVM virtual machines, replicated block storage,
private networks, load balancers, managed PostgreSQL and S3-compatible object storage, all driven through one API.
The console at cloud.ankra.app, the ankra-cloud CLI, the Terraform provider and the MCP
server for AI assistants all call that same API, so anything you can click you can also script.
What you get#
| Product | In short |
|---|---|
| Cloud servers | KVM virtual machines, from 1 core and 1 GiB. Debian and Ubuntu templates, or your own custom images. |
| Block storage | Block devices in three tiers (Ankra Storage, Local NVMe, Ankra Storage HDD). Grow, clone, and back up on demand or on a schedule. |
| Networking | A routed public IPv6 /64 for every server, private networks, routers with NAT, floating IPs and per-server firewalls. |
| Network edges | A bastion, a NAT64/DNS64 gateway and a dual-stack load balancer for IPv6-only servers, on managed VMs. |
| Load balancers | A highly available HAProxy pair with TLS termination, health checks and IPv6 members. |
| Managed databases | PostgreSQL 17 with TLS, daily base backups and point-in-time recovery. |
| Object storage | S3-compatible buckets per zone, signed with AWS Signature V4. |
| Operations | Every write is an operation you can follow; running servers move between hosts live and restart elsewhere if a host fails. |
Zones#
A zone is one data centre with its own compute, storage and network. Resources live in exactly one zone; private networks, load balancers and databases connect resources of the same zone.
| Zone | Location |
|---|---|
de-fsn1 |
Falkenstein 1, Germany |
de-fsn2 |
Falkenstein 2, Germany |
GET /v1/zones (or ankra-cloud zones list) lists the zones your account can use. Backups can be restored into
another zone and custom images copied between zones, so a workload can move or be rebuilt next door.
IPv6 first#
Every server gets a public, routed IPv6 /64, included in its price. A public IPv4 address is an add-on at €4.00 a month, because IPv4 addresses are what makes small cloud servers expensive. Most servers never need one: put a network edge on the private network and IPv4 clients reach your IPv6 servers through it, while the servers reach the IPv4 internet through NAT64. Read IPv6-first networking for the model.
How everything is driven#
- Console: cloud.ankra.app for day-to-day work.
- API: a JSON API at
https://cloud.ankra.app/v1with API tokens, described operation by operation in the API reference. - CLI:
ankra-cloudfor scripts and terminals, includingankra-cloud api <operation_id>for any operation. - Terraform: the
ankraio/ankracloudprovider for infrastructure as code. - AI assistants: the MCP server (preview) lets Claude Code or Claude Desktop manage an account with the same permissions as an API token.
Where to go next#
- Getting started: create an account, deploy an IPv6-only server and SSH into it.
- Billing and credits: how hourly billing, the monthly cap and credits work.
- Security: API tokens, roles, support access and the tamper-evident audit log.
